Traction is the process of gently pulling or separating two joints in order to take the pressure off of the joints.
How it Works
Traction is performed using a specialized table that has rollers which gently move up and down your back and neck. These rollers help take pressure off of the nerves by gently separating the joints and allowing them to go back into the proper position. This separation also creates a pumping action on the disc which help to bring nutrients into the disc through a process called imbibition. Traction also helps to relax muscles that are in spasm and along with helping relieve any tension or stress.
What to Expect
Many people say traction feels like a massage with vibration. The patient is placed face up on a table while rollers underneath move up and down their back.
